Fixed width font (courier new) in o. boxes #216

Closed adrianfreed closed 10 years ago

adrianfreed commented 10 years ago

check out the latest o.demo.glossary to see how this looks. It is a bit clunky in bold as I have it. 14 pt not bold might be better. It sure is nicer to format comments etc!

equilet commented 10 years ago

i get 'o.compose: error parsing bundle' upon opening

equilet commented 10 years ago

/help/patch: "o.compose"

equilet commented 10 years ago

this looks great, although i think i agree with you. i wish monospace fonts were more ubiquitous. here are some examples of what i found with a quick search...

i personally like andale mono or menlo

adrianfreed commented 10 years ago

I think we concluded that courier new was the only one on Windows and Mac.

equilet commented 10 years ago

ugh, windows. yeah; i'd just go with the non-bold. looks reasonable enough.

adrianfreed commented 10 years ago

non bold it is. 12pt or 14pt?

It seems that Monaco is a good option also. I'll look over object defaults sometime tomorrow.

if this page is accurate, i think lucida console is my fave. apologies for butting into this; i'm a bit of a font snob. do you all agree?

ilzxc commented 10 years ago

I also happen to be a font snob and I really like serifs in my code... This isn't a rejection nor a vote, even, just a couple of pennies.

ilzxc commented 10 years ago

I would prefer to include Anonymous Pro with our distribution, but that still requires people to install it. It's my current favorite for codeboxes.

equilet commented 10 years ago

eww, serifs. you must be from the other part of russia.

I think 12 is preferable for me, but mostly because I like to fit as much text in a patch

adrianfreed commented 10 years ago

I thought monaco wasn't on Windows.

Courier New it is.

Works on Windows.

Since it sets defaults, old Max patchers are, sadly, unaffected. Please open an issue if this needs correcting - this can be fixed en masse through a script.
