Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting protocol, or SUSHI, was developed 2004-2007 with full implementation by 2012. SUSHI relies on web service calls to harvest COUNTER data from participating publishers. Results are XML or JSON representations of the various reports defined in the COUNTER standard. Using SUSHI will eliminate the need to download individual Excel spreadsheets and load them separately. Usage reports can be updated on demand or on a predetermined schedule.
