I have just ran through this campaign with none of the issues you mention. The SCS campaigns are harder than the North Atlantic ones by the nature of depth of water, so you have to take extra care of you entry speed in missions ie. try not to run around on the campaign map at map speed because thats the speed you enter the mission. Even going silent instant on entering you will still probably already be detected.
I was playing the Russian SCS 2000 campaing and the result was disaster. I couldn't go more than five minutes without having a plane drop a torpedo directly on me before it drops any sonobuoys or before any ship gets above a -40 on its sonar. I reset the mission and things were the same: no buoys and no nearby ships, but the plane just kept dropping torpedo after torpedo on my head. This isn't realistic or fun: the planes need to be stopped.
