@FrightRisk Can you help me on this issue - see text from Greg's Last Email. I do not have a Raspberry Pi, so I can't really help. I never noticed a timeout when using JMRI on my ThinkPad or Mac.

I already responded to Greg that @dexslab is updating the Installer to fix the issue of Comm Ports and will release a new version today or tomorrow.

Greg Email - 8-30-2020 Hi Larry Update I did find an Arduino that in ide came back as in image below a genuine ? so when I used the latest one it started to load and then closed . So I went back to the 32 bit one the moment I complied / up load it crashed . yes I have a genuine Motor shield .(see images)

So the issue I was having with DCC++ Classic I would load and compile and it would let me add a locomotive in decoder pro .on either the program track or the main track . I would start to operate the diesel and it would stop and the raspberry Pi 3 B+ JMRI command screen would come back with an error of time out files too great . Now this error would happen even if I was programming . The error occurred about 4 – 7 mins after powering up the Arduino I had tried 3 different Uno’s and a 2 different deek- robots . I have spent hours trying to sort something out. I get a signal of about 7khz and I had put a bridge rectifier and a LED with resistors so that around 12volt + the Led would detect a voltage from the motor shield . when it times out it loses the motor shield shut off . I have spent lots of time trying to figure out 2 different Raspberry PI 3 Arduinos etc they all did the same thing I of which is a genuine (supposedly as per Image below ) which di the same thing . FYI- I am cannot write code I am able to read some of it I was a computer systems administrator running a network of 1,000 computers and 40 servers across 26 sites but due to health issue no longer able to and a electronics back ground before that in radio and TV.

I do thank you for your help

As this was quite a while ago an the code has been improved since I'd recommend to try with the newest beta. If the connection errors with JMRI persist we like to know the version of JMRI and how it is connected to the Arduino. Output in the DCC++ monitor of JMRI would be helpful as well.
