Hardware wise it is very different . It only shares the name. So porting will be needed and the question is if it is worth it and how long it would take and if there is any bare metal support for future Arduino devices at all. We have ported to ESP32 and STM32 instead. So serach for ESPDUINO-32 if you want much for the buck and do not need IO ports.
Harald.
The mere fact that this is a UNO form factor device limits the number pf GPIO pins available and this alone might make this device unsuitabl for future enhancements.

Title: Hardware question
Description: I am thinking of making use of your DCC-EX command station software. Reading the your documentation pages it seems that you recommend the use of an Arduino Mega with a wifi shield if required with the current software. With the imminent release of the Arduino UNO R4 device potentially with built in wifi will this change the recommendation at all ? If you think the UNO R4 will be the way to go in future I will hold off buying any hardware until such time as the UNO R4 is available. Thanks Chris
