I want to change the standard type to OSS type even though this may result in void warranty. How can I do that? #15

I have a standard type COBOTTA and now I want to use it to learn ROS, so I want to change the standard type to OSS type even though this may result in void warranty. I have tried to use USB flash to install Ubuntu 16.04, but no video output, so I couldn't proceed. Does anyone have any idea how to do that? Thanks!

Just a comment about the video output. (My comment is also void warranty :pray: )

The document howto-install-ubuntu.md in cobotta driver files describes graphics settings. https://www.denso-wave.com/en/robot/download/application/cobotta_driver_for_linux.html

Summary:

  1. Start BIOS menu (Press DEL and power on the COBOTTA).
  2. Advanced -> Graphics Configuration
  3. Disable LVDS Panel then reboot

ShotaAk, thank you very much for your reply!

I found that even though I pressed 'DEL', the BIOS picture didn't show up. I am not sure if this is wiring wrong. Because I didn't have the original VGA video cable for a standard type, I used a HIROSE 12 pin connector to connect to the usual 15 pin D-Sub VGA connector. Maybe the DIY pin to pin wiring of these two connector was wrong and I couldn't get signal from the cable by oscilloscope.

ShotaAk, could you do me a favor to test the pin to pin number on both sides of your video cable? A multimeter may apply. Thanks again!

I don't have COBOTTA and the cable now (My office has the robot and the cable). I recommend purchasing the original cable from DENSO corp. :+1:

Thanks.
