Dynamo version 2.0.1

Revit version 2018

Operating system Windows 10

What did you do?

When I launch Dynamo 2.0.1 from Revit, I don't have any library on the left panel. The package library loads only with the 1.3.3 version and in the 2.0.1 version in Revit 2019

jnealb commented 6 years ago

@danselkaz Which version of Revit 2018 are you running? 2018.2 or 2018.3?

QilongTang commented 6 years ago

@danselkaz Please refer to https://github.com/DynamoDS/DynamoRevit/issues/2020 and workaround in https://github.com/DynamoDS/Dynamo/issues/8768

danselkaz commented 6 years ago

I'm using Revit 2018.3

Uninstalling PnID as described in DynamoDS/Dynamo#8768 doesn't change the issue. I don't have NBS plugins but those plugins : image

mjkkirschner commented 6 years ago

Please look in the notifications menu item and look for a notification which references CEF

I don't have any notification for the moment in Dynamo.

Do you think that this error message in Revit Startup could have something related to Dynamo error ? image

jnealb commented 6 years ago

@danselkaz At first glance, no, but you should clear up the error anyway (as it is possible that is the issue). If it does not, then to fix Dynamo's disappearing library one approach is to "divide and conquer", eg isolate the conflicting plugin by removing them all and re-introducing one at a time, if this is convenient/feasible. @mjkkirschner any thoughts/better ideas?

adriansin commented 6 years ago

I am also having an issue with a missing library. Removing PnIDModeler folder completely did not solve the issue.

Removing all addins did not resolve the issue. I received the following errors upon starting Revit after removing all addins. image image image

After the third warning I clicked "Continue starting Revit anyway". The library is still missing. image

Missing library issue also happens in Revit 2017.2 image

Dynamo version same as above. image

Dynamo Notifications image

Seems like the issue lies within something common between Revit 2017.2 and 2018.3.

Dynamo 1.3.3 works for both Revit 2017.2 and 2018.3, with all addins including PnIDModeler. image

AkuJokinen commented 6 years ago

I have had same issue with Dynamo 2.0 in all versions of Revit since install and still after upgrading to 2.0.1. Dynamo 1.3.3 still works fine. At the time of installing Dynamo 2.0 I had Revit 2018.2 and Revit 2017.2 installed. I have tried upgrading it to 2018.3 and removing the PnIDModeler addin from 2018.

I remember that when I first time installed dynamo 2.0 and tried to define the location of our shared Package folder on network drive, the dynamo kept crashing the whole Revit (2017) whenever I hit Apply Changes button in Manage Node and Package Paths window. At some point I however somehow managed to define the folder without crashing, but Revit 2017 started to crash every time I closed the program giving Autodesk Error Reporting dialog. It did not bother me so much so I let it be. I think at the same time the Library panel broke down. Other computers end up in same crash every time I try to define shared package folder.

Here is screenshot of the shared Package folder possibly causing the problem: image

On my computer (the one with broken Library) I have reinstalled dynamo. I could only Uninstall Dynamo Revit 2.0.1 as Dynamo Core 2.0.1 has uninstall button grayed out.

I have uninstalled both Revit 2017 and 2018.

I have also removed all extra package folders from 2.0.1 so that it shows I don't have any Packages installed.

Dynamo does not show any Notifications and console seems normal to me.

I don't have NBS Revit plugin installed. I do however have quite a few other Revit plugins installed, but would rather not uninstall all of them. None of the things listed has helped so far. I can add some Dynamo log files if it helps. I can also make a separate issue if it is better way of dealing with this.

I would love to get this figured out since I already upgraded our offices dynamo scripts to 2.0 and only using right click search to find nodes is pretty limiting.

mjkkirschner commented 6 years ago

@AkuJokinen above you show two notifications - what are the details listed there?

sorry I do not understand if you removed dynamo packages and still have the issue?

the console contains this line: LibraryUI: The invocation of the constructor on type 'CefSharp.Wpf.ChromiumWebBrowser' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception. which implies some dependency for CEF is missing or cannot be loaded.

Please try installing: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

mjkkirschner commented 6 years ago

apologies @AkuJokinen and @adriansin I read both of your posts as one.

so my question about the notifications is for @adriansin - and my advice about installing the vc++ 2013 components is for both of you - worth checking if it is installed as well before doing this.

adriansin commented 6 years ago

@mjkkirschner thanks for the reply.

I tried reinstalling Visual C++ at the link you provided above, it did not resolve the missing library issue.

I figured out why. One of my plugins was interfering with Dynamo. Recently I added a plugin called Retriever by Join (https://www.retriever.works/). After disabling the plugin, Dynamo library shows up as normal and functions properly.

image

If you are still having issues , I would suggest checking any recent add-ins installed and find a way to uninstall or disable them.

Thanks for everyone's help.

ramramps commented 6 years ago

@smangarole we should mark this plug in for CEF dependency :(

danselkaz commented 6 years ago

Disabling all the Add-ins works for me. I now have to look up to the one that makes Dynamo crash reinstalling them one by one.

AkuJokinen commented 6 years ago

I got my dynamo 2.0.1 working properly after long time of fighting with this same issue. I first removed pretty much all Revit AddOns I could with relational ease. I even unistalled all autodesk products on my computer and reinstalled revit 2019. None of it made difference.

What got the Library working for me in the end was uninstalling all versions of Dynamo Core (2.0 and 1.3) I had installed and then reinstalling 2.0.1. It was a bit tricky since I had not been able to uninstall those earlier as the uninstall button was grayed out like in this case: https://github.com/DynamoDS/Dynamo/issues/8762 I had to use Microsoft Fixit to uninstall those like suggested in the link.
