jbasiimwe commented 3 months ago

I am John baptist Asiimwe from Aga Khan Uganda, school of nursing and midwifery. I have a background in nursing, midwifery, and public health.

Iam interested in this project as my first choice because aging is a new phenomenon in Africa and little research exists on it, I want to learn how to use data for aging people in developed countries to be able to predict many things including diseases on the African continent

This project is my third choice I come from Pwani university as a faculty member (lecturer) in the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. My background is in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Although I have a good background in molecular Biology, I do not have enough competent in the application of bioinformatics in analysis of biological data obtained from to predict the required outcome from the results. More over I have developed interest in predictions of specific parameters using biological data which is crucial in diagnosis and monitoring outcomes of different treatments not only in disease set up but also in other settings. This min project will provide me with skills and ability to use existing biological data to develop, evaluate and predict different parameter, new machine learning models and determine relationships between chronological and predicted biological biological parameters which is crucial in healthcare setting and research in biomedical sciences.

Name: Mputhia Milka Education Background: BSc Genomics & MSc Bioinformatics Institution Affiliation: Pwani University 2nd Choice

Why I am choosing this project:

My interest stems from a desire to apply genomic and bioinformatics expertise to enhance health assessments. By evaluating and refining biological age prediction models using local laboratory data, we can address the unique genetic diversity of African populations, potentially revolutionizing personalized medicine and health outcomes in the region.

SECOND CHOICE

My name is Purity Njenga an Intern at ICIPE. I have a background in Biotechnology.

I have not engaged in this area of research before but I am open minded and I would like to learn and make a positive impact on the same. I am however eager to be involved in the project because it aligns perfectly with my passion for applying innovative scientific methods to improve public health. The opportunity to leverage accessible, routine lab data to provide valuable health insights is incredibly exciting to me. This project not only addresses a critical research gap but also offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on healthcare in an underrepresented region.

My names are Joel Alukwe, Institution Africa International University my background is in information technology and specialization in Software engineering my main focus being backend engineering.

This project excites me as a second choice for to its potential in combining routine healthcare data with advanced machine learning techniques to predict biological age, With significant implications for personalized medicine, Since there is a growing interest in using biological age as a marker for overall health and longevity.

My aim after this is to learn how to handle and analyze medical data, understand health biomarkers, and develop predictive models, My goal is to create accurate biological age prediction models that can assess individual health status and tailor medical interventions, The concepts I aim to master include in

* machine learning (Predictive modeling, regression techniques).
* artificial intelligence (Implementation of AI in health diagnostics)
* data science (Medical data analysis, feature extraction, and interpretation)

My First Choice

I'm Anita Kerubo from Aga Khan University, with a background in statistics and research methodology. This project lays the groundwork for my future master's degree, where I aim to develop predictive models for identifying chronic disease outcomes.
