Getting Started

See this tweet for an overview of how this site was built.

Setup a PlanetScale account

This app uses a remote MySQL database via a service called PlanetScale. Please register an account at https://planetscale.com/ and create a DB to get started.

Update .env.development with your API keys

Install Dependencies

npm install

Connect to PlanetScale DB

pscale auth login
pscale connect ethrank main --port 3309

If this is your first time, you may need to run npx prisma migrate dev

Run the dev server

npm run dev
# or
yarn dev

Open http://localhost:3000 with your browser to see the result.

You can start editing the page by modifying pages/index.tsx. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.

API routes can be accessed on http://localhost:3000/api/hello. This endpoint can be edited in pages/api/hello.ts.

The pages/api directory is mapped to /api/*. Files in this directory are treated as API routes instead of React pages.
