Goal: centralize all data in one space.

Note that not all data will be hosted here, eg. the CORDEX-CORE output that is stored in ESGF

@GLangendijk @jesusff:

@jesusff: I am not sure if any of the notebooks need to be adjusted to accommodate these path changes?

GLangendijk commented 1 year ago

@matthiasdemuzere @jesusff ,

Many thanks Matthias, this is very helpful to organise the files!

I have looked for the orography files for REMO and added them to the repository (https://geo-cloud.geographie.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/index.php/s/jfNy2xkPktKqzR6?path=%2F). For RegCM we have to check at ESGF and/or with ICTP colleagues if the orography files are available.

Furthermore, I found in the surface library the "land-sea mask" for both REMO & RegCM (see repository). Maybe we can use this file to "exclude" the large water bodies from the urban/land fractions?

Hi both, sorry for the delay. Thank you both!

@matthiasdemuzere, I will fix the paths to point to the new location. This data space seems public, right? I should be able to sync it to my computer using a nextcloud client. I'll need to figure it out. There seems to be a way to add it to our nextcloud server.

@GLangendijk, yes, orog files for RegCM are available from ESGF. Also the land-sea masks. Definitely, we could use them to exclude water bodies in the definition of rural surroundings for the urban centers.
