[Mod Problem]: crops disappearing from IndustrialCraft 2 crop sticks #325

What version of University: 1.2.1
What mod: IndustrialCraft 2
Have you made an issue on their issue tracker: No.
If so, link it here:
Describe the issue: I am not positive if this is a bug or if I have somehow misunderstood the mechanics of IC2's crops. Every time I try to plant a crop on crop sticks, the crop disappears between 10 and 20 seconds later.

Is the area lit up properly?

I had them in the little farm area that comes with the Acacia house from Prefab. I had them right next to a glowstone block in the ground, so light couldn't have been an issue. Does the climate/biome have any effect?
