I am planning to make Udeler 2.0 a big release with a lot of new features and improvements. I created this thread so that you can suggest features that you would like to see in the upcoming versions. I will be releasing incremental updates in the form of beta until I feel its enough improvement over 1.6.2 and will release 2.0.

Features that will get more likes/upvotes will be given priority.

U can give the company name alone, lets say if u are using with xyz.udemy.com for accesing ur business account, just give xyz for the company name and then login with credentials

delete the current downloading file from file location & again start download, it will work, i am using the same way.

Thanks for this tool. Is there any way to run/build the program in arm for raspberry pi? Due to its low energy consumption and my slow internet connection it would be a very good combination to have the program running for a few days without stopping

If you downloaded a course and clicked "dissmiss" I still have the vent in downloads. shoud disappear.

Next to download, pause, play buttons a cancel (and delete downloaded stuff) button was a good idea.

People can miss use this tool to get certificate without watching them. It will be like pay and get certificate. In this case Udemy may ban your api access if any. So I suggest not to do so. If they want to share, they can share even if you mark them as completed. But marking them is more vulnerable to misuse. Instead of that I suggest not downloading the completed or certificate generated courses.

I have a business account and have access to thousands of courses, as opposed to a handful of them, so my wish list follows: 1) To be able to queue courses or files for download, and set max. number of concurrent downloads, to allow for downloading hundreds/thousands of courses without waiting for each to complete and starting a new one. 2) Authors often add and remove stuff and the ordering of the folders and files changes. This causes inconsistent downloads, with downloaded content not matching the online course files. (Because you add index number in front of the folder and file names) You can save metadata about the downloaded files (the folder/file name on disk and the original online file url), and using this you can detect changes and apply dowloading new added stuff, removing from disk old deleted stuff, and renaming files and folders with new index numbers,to synchronize what is on disk with what is online. 3) Offer a diff between all courses (you might need scraping the web site explore menu to get the full list), and the enrolled courses, so that we can easily find new courses and enroll in those courses. (This is actually a missing feature in the Udemy interface, but you can provide this add-on in your app). Currently the only way to see what you're missing is click explore, search for newest courses on each category, and click each course to see whether you're enrolled or not!.. 4) Some (very few) courses have useless resource files that are larger than 1gb, and the download gets stuck on that file, which prevents downloading the remaining course files, because each time you restart, it will try to downlod that stuck long file first. We should be able to choose or exclude which files to download. 5) Latest version (1.8.2) does not work, I'm stuck with latest working version 1.8.0. You need to have automated tests because each version fixes something and breaks another thing.

This is a bug in the current version of Udeler 1.8.2. The solution to this is to go to the download folder, select the folder of the course you are downloading, and delete the last downloaded course number folder and then restart the Udeler application. The download should resume from where it stopped previously. This works perfectly for me on a Mac.

Hello everyone, I am posting a general reply here. I know that I couldn't/didn't reply any of the above comments.

I am trying to make the v2 available by the end of this month. I have said it before, I am not able to give it much time because of the work I am involved in. But with the help of my colleague I am looking to complete this by end of September. At least I will try to release a beta so that you can try it out (if I feel its not ready by the end of month)

Also I received many emails mentioning the same issue about downloads getting failed, I couldn't reply to all of them, but I believe when v2 will be out almost all the issues will stand resolved. So if anyone from you had emailed me about that, just know if you issue is regarding downloads getting failed, we should have it resolved in v2, just wait for the beta version to be out.

Yes you are right about checkbox thing in my opinion this could bring trouble if some download the course and ask for refund which will hurt the Creators but still if they want to they can do that with other downloaders as well. i think first priority should be stability then later we can decide about these issues regarding the course progress. If one has watched the videos offline they can simply mark them watched using the checkbox. Please include the 1080p option in this release, as older version downloads in 720p even if 1080p is selected. Udemy use adaptive streaming so please add support for hls-stream so that it can download videos in 1080p. Youtube-dl downloads videos in 1080p but it doesn't download the attachments.

Yeah you are right. If they really wanna do that refund stuff they can choose another platform if not this one.We need to discuss about current improvements in the app rather than types of people using it.

The number of simultaneous downloads should be adjustable. Like in torrent apps. Downloads should be able to be queued.

Its easy just login from your udemy business account and download but make sure you have enrolled in the course first else you will receive permission denied error.

I did enroll the course already but getting the message "You do not have permission to this course" . PFB the screenshot for that error.

I don't know if it is just me but the https://github.com/r0oth3x49/udemy-dl was able to download the files way faster than the gui. Once single course was downloading about 720 to 780kbps per file, and doing only one course to test the speed. While the udemy-dl was downloading each file at 18 to 25Mbps (18000 to 25000Kbps), which is waaaaay faster. Not sure why, but I would suggest checking that to allow room for improvement.

Actually, I noticed that yours begins fast and then after a while it gets slower... not sure why. Perhaps would be better to refresh the cookie/session to then continue. I guess it is some sort of block they put in it.

A way to throttle downloads / select a batch or section (1 at a time, wait a few minutes between, etc).

I believe that the speed issues (e.g. what @arminanton is mentioning) are due to throttling. Before finding this tool today, I had been grabbing the mp4 URL from the console (time consuming). Working at a good pace with that methodology would result in the downloads suddenly slowing to a crawl. Without reading either codebase, the ffmpeg requirement of the r0oth3x49 version is likely downloading segments as the browser would (and concatenating them), whereas this tool is just extracting the full .mp4 url.

Thank you for this awesome time saving tool! They really need to just open this up for all courses; I'm more than happy to pay for a good course, but I want to have it on my system (loss of internet/lack of internet/re-watching without wasting bandwidth).

A: Downloaded File Verification: verify the files in the download location and update UI to reflect. I have had to figure out what classes failed part way thru and then set them to re-download them. Also, this would help keep the UI up to date. Currently, After you have downloaded and restarted the app, previously downloaded classes look the same as ones that have not been downloaded. This would also give a bonus of finding updated files that need to be downloaded, due to class updates.

This could have status' NEW, UPDATES, PARTIAL, DOWNLOADED

B: MAX number of concurrent downloads, with priority list. Put an option in settings to set the number of concurrent downloads. Then in the downloads tab have the ability to move classes up and down the priority list. Much like a P2P client presents downloading items.

Thanks for the application! Most important for me is to be able to download the courses that are not downloadable. I have bought a few courses that won't download when I try to do it.

EDIT: It would be good to have a queue for downloading files, allowing one to select multiple courses, but downloading one at a time, following the queue. I have had some problems when downloading multiple courses at once. Some of the courses didn't download properly, so I observed to be best to download one at a time, but it would be best if I could select all I want to download and just leave the computer alone.
