Redesign icons and other artwork

Hi,

Up-front: I am not a lawyer. But my understanding of forks of FLOSS software is that usually, the branding and artwork is not covered by the GPL.

I don't want to add to the high-priority things here, but considering the party that upstream is getting sold to, it would probably be wise to figure out the copyright- and trademark-status of the artwork and branding present in the repositories and get replacements in place.

Since the apps are using MD3, do you think it's a good idea to make the default icon app Material You compliant ?

The "themed icons" introduced in Android 13 are defined alongside classic branded icons. So as long as a themed variant exists, a branded, more unique variant should exist as well.

@12people Thanks for pointing out the contrast issue, I had tested contrast on all the other colors (in the website color palette) but not those two.

I'm yet to test this background color as the primary color inside the app.

They look perfect IMO.

Inside the app, for navigation and stuff you should use surface-container and for header and FAB primary-container and use the primary only for action buttons and text.

I am sorry if I am over explaining, here is material design 3 color rules documentiation for your information.

But yeah, the icons looks amazing.

@ronniedroid you got likes, I though there would be only smaller changes. (little changes with head, same wings, maybe wings with feathers)

If you would change the head (mainly the eyes - it looks wierd - maybe even as he is stupid) - it would be also great (maybe better)

It looks like the head is the most important part. (or just the hardest)

But thanks for your ideas and work! I only mean this as constructive criticism.

the red outlines a proposed spacial change and the edges of the wings are softened, if someone could emboss an "F" symbol on the bird that looks stylish please do

the bird should have two tone shading i think, or maybe just an outline which is a slightly darker green. maybe give it a kings crown?

@ronniedroid the last one looks great. I like the idea of a rising phoenix a little bit too much, it's going to stay. But I would do white on green instead of green on white.

I also tried generating a few:

The feathers in each of these could be minimized, everything else seems okay.
