Modem emulation layer problems (?)

Hello Gideon, many thanks for updating the 1541u2 to 3.10...unfortunately I do not get the Software "CCGMS" mentioned in your manual to work here. Is there possibly a known problem with the combination of 1541u2 + Usb2Lan (88772a-chipset) and/or CCGMS?

Another user on Facebook already confirmed the problem, not sure what hardware he uses exactly...the software 'Ultimate Term" seems to work, I already tried to add a definately working BBS to CCGMS but still no luck.

I hope you have an idea whats wrong here...

Same issue here. UltimateTerm v2.4 works out of the box. Ping and Telnet from PC also work ok. My setup: C64C (250469/PAL) + 1541u2 (3.10/DD) + USB2LAN (AX88772A) If you need any additional info or tests just ask.

Shouldn't the title of the bug report be that the U2 doesn't work with CCGMS ? And perhaps even more specific, "the modem emulation/swiftlink does not work"? There are a lot of versions of CCGMS. Do you know by any chance which version you used? It's helps if you add a link to the version of CCGMS you use.

Do other terminal programmes which also use the swiftlink/modem emulation still work? You can ty this one. I'm sure there are more supporting this.

Ultimate term does not use the swiftlink/modem emulation. However, if Ultimate term works, then CCGMS Ultimate should also work. This version uses the same tech as Ultimate term when making a telnet connection.

I am not sure about 'Ultimate Term 2.4" - it works often and I have to check this more. There is one BBS (Rapidfire) that was ok one day, on the other day I was not able to load anymore. Not sure why.

CCGMS 2021 does not work.

CCGMS 2017 V6 does not work.

C-Term 2021 U64 does not work - hangs on startup with different problems - sometimes with one ATZ-message, sometimes with several ATZ-messages.

As so many programs refuse to work, I assume there is a problem somewhere on Ultimate-side...

In the meanwhile I found out that 'Ultimate term' works best, all other ones not.

Unfortunately usage of Ultimate term causes some strange freezes here and there - when everything hangs, its not even possible anymore to press one of the 3 buttons on the Ultimate-cart...it seems as if the complete Ultimate freezes.

Not sure how to reproduce or why exactly, it happens very randomly

Flashed the 3.10a update but the issue persists. Tried with ccgms 202x, novaterm and gterm but there is no response to keypresses. Ultimate term 2.x works fine as well as ping and telnet from pc side.

The dongle seems to be detected and installed properly according to the log:

Are the commenters in this thread connecting to linux machines via telnet? It wasn't clear what people were attempting to connect to.

I have no problems connecting to BBSes with the Swiftlink implementation on the U 1541 II+ but I do have similar issues when I try and telnet to local linux machines on my network - see #414
