Recently ran into this website, which suggests having issue and pull request templates in order to standardize the contributing process. This would make issues/PRs more black and white and avoid long comment threads.
Issue template:
Description: brief summary of the issue
Expected behavior: what the code should do
Actual behavior: what the code does instead
Steps to reproduce: how did the issue occur exactly?
Location (computer/mobile): where the issue took place (browser can be included here, too)
Other information: miscellaneous information
Pull Request template:
Referenced Issue: which issues the pull request solves
Description: changes made to the repository (code blocks welcome)
Reviewer: who should review the change (probably @wogsland)
