What You'll Do (Job Description)
We’re looking for an agile and progressive professional, with a passion for both data and leadership to come on board as our Manager, Data Engineering. In this role, you will lead a team of data engineering professionals to ensure that data produced from Conexus’ data environment is consistent and accurate. You will support and educate Conexus and its leadership and management teams on data and how data can support data-driven decision making. You will spend your time:
Leading and managing the back-end data environment, ensuring appropriate data development standards and methodologies are leveraged (i.e. code reviews, source code management, documentation, etc.)
Managing and allocating data engineering resources to strategic priorities and incoming requests pertaining to data engineering
Contributing to the enablement of a future where all data within Conexus is well structured, thoroughly documented, and easily found
Supporting the creation and maintenance of a data governance process that ensures all necessary business units across Conexus are both aware of and have a sense of ownership over key data decisions
Collaboratively supporting all individuals, teams, projects and initiatives within the organization by providing input, knowledge and feedback within areas of expertise
Proactively and positively representing Conexus externally to support the growth of our membership and depth of relationships and to enhance credit union system support and collaboration
Maintaining leading-edge knowledge of new tools, technology, techniques in data and analytics
Leading, promoting and cultivating an environment that continually seeks and identifies opportunities for improvement of policies, processes and increased efficiencies; recommend and share ideas for improvements
Influencing organization-wide consistency by adopting process changes; by assisting with roll-out where feasible and by leading team and others to adopt and follow them
Developing, monitoring and adhering to team targets, goals and budgets
Developing, nurturing and maintaining relationships with internal partners and external providers
Must Have
10 years’ relevant experience in information technology, project management, and/or analytics
Relevant post-secondary education in computing science, engineering, analytics, business, mathematics or other technical discipline
5 years’ relevant experience managing and leading highly-skilled technical resources
Relevant Experiences
Experience building data pipelines, architectures, warehouses, applications and/or datasets
Relevant experience in collaboratively contributing to the development of the department business plan and executing on strategies to meet organizational goals
Experience in leading projects that explore innovative technology, such as cloud computing or AI
Experience leading and/or participating in the creation of a custom data product/application considered an asset
Experience working in Financial Services, Insurance, or Retail industries would be considered an asset
