1 year ago After a little bit of discussion, this is the solution we came up with to solve this problem:
- Malon already sticks around as long as you didn't get her check, so that one is good.
- Set the flag for Talon to move away from his sleeping spot and send him back to the ranch as soon as Zelda's letter is obtained.
- Turn weird egg into a blue rupee whenever it's obtained while the player has Zelda's letter or any of the masks in their inventory.
This way players can still glitch their way to Zelda, but it can't possibly softlock the player out of any checks.
It makes Weird Egg a lot less important in glitched play, but the alternative is to straight up block the player from going to Zelda by spawning the guards as long as Talon and Malon flags aren't set, which also doesn't feel ideal.

If you megaflip to get to Zelda in Hyrule Castle to get Zelda's Letter before getting the Weird Egg, and then get masks to enable quick swap, acquiring Weird Egg after that point will allow you quick swap over the Weird Egg onto a mask and not be able to get the egg back. This locks you out of Talon's bottle check and Epona's Song check in rando which could rarely make the seed impossible to beat without debug inventory editing (and potentially Epona's Song in regular gameplay if it works the same way? Haven't had the chance to test that yet)
