Allowing someone to upload an image, and perhaps use and image from their camera, is fine, although we'd also have to fix the position of that image, and you'd have to pre-moderate images to make sure they weren't harmful or personally identifiable in any way, and fiddle a little with the length checking of the text element of the story.

The trouble with images is that they're not necessarily terribly good at what the concept needs, which is communicate something inspirational about a specific careleavers life. There's all sorts of possibilities for inspiring images in the context of the app - a school you went to, a home that supported you, are a certificate you were proud of, but are those images what we will actually get? I think we can underestimate the difficulties of getting not simply images, but the right images and having to turn down the vast majority of uploaded images - leading to disappointment. Compare the problem to getting the right images for a piece of print, where finding an image that expresses a concept (or helps express it) is notoriously hard, resulting often in redundancy or even offense.
