Care Leaver App branding meeting notes – Monday 15 December

  1. Change generate a name function so have the choice of adding own first name and annotate surname as A, B, C etc in order automatically, or annotate as anonymous rather than generating a name.
  2. Is it possible to add a search facility, for a story alphabetically by name?
  3. Change title ‘Add a Story’ to ‘Add Your Story’, take away page header. When click on Add Your Story, can this move to the centre of the bar, if not can it become wider as it is the live link, and the others are the narrower size. Replace ‘Your inspiring story’ with ‘Write your story here’ (do we need to explain that it will be edited before publishing, give a timeline for this?)
  4. Change title ‘Inspiring Me’ to ‘My favourites’ – in line with terminology on other sites
  5. Home page – Instead of ‘Find an inspiring story’ replace with ‘Care leavers’ stories about learning and work. Be inspired! The app’s themes link to those on your pathway plan.
  6. Can we change the label ‘Identity’ to ‘Who I am’
  7. Themes on home page - can learning and work be at the top of the list - order to be a. Learning b. Work c. Where you live d. Money e. Health f. Relationships g. Who you are h.
  8. More like this story – can we change it to: Keep it/Keep looking
  9. Can the term ‘Pathway themes’ be changed to ‘pathway plan themes’
  10. Colours/logos and design: We would like to return to the simple one colour scheme for the body of the information, so no coloured blocks. The logo at the lightbulb , we prefer the original design which we feel is much more young person led with the NIACE logo at the side, and not at the bottom
  11. Difficult words –can this have a different name that’s not ‘difficult’. There was some discussion whether this was needed, but in terms of literacy difficulties and language I think it is.
  12. Under each story there is a yes or a no button to enable you to collect the stories, can this be changed to ‘add to my favourites’
  13. In the info tab can we say “This app has been developed by care leavers working collaboratively with NIACE and Neontribe Ltd. The stories have been written by young people who have left care, are living independently and have taken first steps into learning and work’
  14. Change the title ‘Random Stories’ to ‘Inspiring Stories’
  15. Under the story, the comment ‘More Like this story’ can we just say ‘More like this’
  16. If I click on Random Story there appears a box to add your own story and then stories with key words, Clicking on a key word under a story seems to change the title of the page to that word but doesn’t change any of the stories to just be those with that keyword underneath
  17. We like the dice – is there another way to indicate that it will be a random choice without using the word ‘random’?
  18. In the menu add your story we came across something that was a ‘tip’ about bold and italics – I can’t see this using Google Chrome, is there a chance that some people might get different versions depending on what they are using?
