realsense d435i: given stream configuration is not unsupported by the device! #3201

Issue Description

I enabled infra1 and infra2, and also manually added enable_infra (tested without adding enable_infra as well), but the topics that are related to either infra1 or infra2 could not be published. The error says it's not supported by the device. I saw another thread saying setting infra-rgb to be false solved problem, but it did not work for my case. Screenshot from 2024-09-09 17-01-05

Hi @MingHe98 If enable_infra1 and enable_infra2 are true then enable_infra and infra_rgb should both be set to false in order to stream the infra1 and infra2 topics.

However, the legacy ROS2 wrapper version 3.2.3 is very old and is obsolete. It should be used with librealsense version 2.50.0 and camera firmware version 5.13.0.50. Are you using legacy wrapper 3.2.3 because of its support for Foxy, please?

Yes, I manually set enable_infra and infra_rgb to be false. I believe I tested with librealsense version 2.51 with camera firmware version 5.13.0.50 but it did not work either. I upgraded to librealsense 2.55 because I could just download, install, and check via apt-get instead of more stuff to deal with source code folder. Yes, I am using legacy wrapper 3.2.3 because of its support for Foxy, and Jetson AGX Orin, but I'm having a hard time to have all the data published so that I could do VINS

The current 4-series of ROS2 wrappers also supported Foxy up until version 4.54.1, which was designed for use with librealsense 2.54.1. The link below is a "forked" version of the 4.54.1 wrapper that a RealSense ROS user created shortly before Foxy support was removed, so it should work for Foxy if you build it from source code.

With the 3.2.3 wrapper, are you using the original unmodified rs_launch.py launch file of that wrapper, please?

In that legacy launch file, you do not need to enable infra1 and infra2 as they are already enabled by default in the launch file. This was before the infra topics were set to false by default in the later 4.x wrapper versions.

Let's try setting a custom stream configuration with the original rs_launch.py file. This legacy wrapper used a different configuration method to the current one, where you have to provide three factors for each stream type (width, height, FPS) or the custom configuration is rejected and the default stream profile for that particular RealSense camera model is applied by the launch instead.

It still did not publish the topics that are related to infra1 and infra2. Instead, I updated the wrapper and the librealsense SDK. I built the source from "Use the RSUSB backend without the kernel patching". Now, there are new errors.

If I added the configuration when launching the file, then there would be so many errors repeating to pop out.
