Fedora 18 Graphical Issues #260

Closed KaldNL closed 11 years ago

So far, I've only seen this issue on Fedora 18. I've tested this on two laptops, and a person I know who runs Fedora 18 also experiences this.

On this machine, I'm using the open source Intel driver (Fedora 18 default). I have all dependencies installed to my knowledge. Prior to installing some dependencies, textures were distorted and performance was abysmal. After installing a few 32 libraries, all artwork seems to be black. The same compiled files work fine on another PC running Ubuntu.

I'm almost entirely sure it's an issue with OpenJK and not with my graphics. This issue has happened on Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA graphics on 3 different machines. OpenArena, Quake Live, Counter Strike 1.6, Xonotic, and all other games work perfectly fine.

I'll upload some earlier screenshots with the distortion shortly.

Is this ALL textures (e.g. menus too?), or just in-game in the map? Does enabling/disabling dynamic glow make any difference?

KaldNL commented 11 years ago

Menus somewhat work. Scrollbars don't exist, levelshots are black, etc. The opening video is also black (main menu).

I tried adjusting some lighting settings before. No difference.

Edit: Opening video on main menu is not black, oops.

The console has no artwork (black), some menu items are black (in the video tab in Setup), etc.

texture bits: 0

Have you tried turning off the texture compression just to see?

KaldNL commented 11 years ago

Wow. Why was texture compression set to 32 by default?

All looks fine now. Thanks for that.

Some of the cvars could be defaults to q3 values if they are set/adjusted in sdl code rather than renderer or the win glimp code. (Just guessing)
