Openjk not recognize joystick & crash issue #317

Im using openjk in linux i already compile whitout problem but the game not regconize my xbox 360 joystick and ps2 dual adapter when i turn on joystick in the game menu nothing happen and when i close the game and run again the game crash and i have to erase "openjk_sp.cfg" to play again...... sorry for my english

A little more information on the crash would be helpful like a backtrace.

Config file that is faulty would be nice as well.

That crash only happen when i plug the joystick with the option: Joystick enable: on

Need the backtrace for someone else who's on linux to debug not the console log absent of all that.

@Pollito001 Can you start the game with +set developer 1 and then show us the console log again?

That won't give a backtrace though.

I know, but it'll provide a bit more information about where it's crashing hopefully. It's just to gather a bit more information until a coder who has Linux as well as a gamepad can give us a full stack trace.

Looks like the analog cvar needs to be turned on. in_joystickUseAnalog 1 This is sdl backend specific. windows uses the in_joystick 2 for xinput iirc.

In Linux. On a side note, you might want to give your XInput code a bit of a polish. @ensiform mentioned there was a few problems with it.

pollito should just compile a debug build and use gdb to produce a stack trace? Based on the fact he's using linux and was able to get the code compile shows he's a bit above the average Windows user that has no idea what compiling even is -- should probably be able to produce what we need.

Basically what you should do is re-run cmake as:

cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug

Then recompile and start the game using gdb ("gdb ", then type "run" in the new prompt, and finally when it breaks "backtrace") and then copy us over the backtrace.

Awesome :) Taking a closer look at the code, the in_joystickThreshold cvar is never created.
