Rosh dies of fall damage after Force Jump #560

In the first mission, at the second tree you cut down there is a river with rock walls that you jump. When Rosh jumps he goes too high and dies of fall damage. I have reloaded dozens of times, happens if I cut the tree down before he jumps or not.

My rig is as follows: R9-290X - Catalyst 14.6 Beta drivers (tried with crossfire disabled and enabled with secondary R9-290) Windows 8.1 openjk-2014-06-23-8c620db3-windows JK:JA from steam

Are you even using OpenJK? This was fixed on May 14th 2013.

chrismartinau commented 10 years ago

I am using openjk-2014-06-23-8c620db3-windows from http://builds.openjk.org/ with the Steam install of JK:JA.

Are there any other details that would be relevant? Besides changing r_mode to "-2" my configs are fairly default.

It has nothing to do with the config or your system specs, it was a code fix to something that happened in the original game. I'm starring at the set of commits that fixed it and it was tested.

Works just fine here. Every time.

ensiform commented 10 years ago

Are you testing it from fresh from the beginning of level each time or did you save right before?

chrismartinau commented 10 years ago

I have tried from a save just before and loading from the last checkpoint. I'll try starting a new game and see fit that changes anything.

ensiform commented 10 years ago

The save from just before will always contain Rosh having been hurt (to a point where ~40 points of damage will kill him) throughout the level thus the impact is still killing him for some reason. Still looking further. I could only get it to "happen" once magically but I didn't see any cause.

chrismartinau commented 10 years ago

I tried a clean start and Rosh survived this time. It's resolved from my point of view, but do you want to keep investigating from your end? I am happy to close the issue if that's what you'd prefer.

ensiform commented 10 years ago

It can stay since the original fix is invalid.

ensiform commented 10 years ago

@chrismartinau do you still have the manual save which he always died on? Will be useful to have for when you test it being fixed shortly.
