Doesn't work with IE8 -- DOM method addEventListener isn't supported.

But ... I see that jQuery doesn't even support IE8 anymore, so I guess this isn't an issue.

I got this working on Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and IE. The hardest part was fixing the error handling when there's an xml parsing error, since each browser does it differently.
