Program won't even start #30

Closed amelius1005 closed 4 years ago

I have used this program for the past few months. It has been exactly what I was looking for. The only issue is that as of the past week, the program won't start. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times. I am not very tech savvy, so I'm not even sure how to troubleshoot this issue. I thank you in advance for your assistance. K0UPsb5

I have recently been having a similar issue. I see Windows Problem Reporting pop up in the task manager, and when I check the most recent application-based logs in Event Viewer, it seems that the program is opening and then immediately crashing for some reason.

A common thread for some of these events is this log: Fault bucket 1725140037146561743, type 5 Event Name: CLR20r3 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0

After writing my previous comment, I realized I was on version 4.0.0.3. I have since uninstalled it and any other older versions of the software I had on my computer, and installed the most recent version as of now (4.0.0.8). This time it does provide an error message when it fails to launch, which I have attached as a JPG as windows will not let me copy&paste the text from the error window.

I am attempting to run the program on Windows 10, and it had worked so far up until a couple of days ago - I do not recall any updates, but Windows 10 is sneaky with them and it may have happened in the background.

While installing the program, I am installing it to the default folder it selects upon running the setup wizard - C:\Program Files (x86)\Deathcounter and Soundboard

Edit for extra details: When installing the program, I am also only using the "DCSB_4.0.0.8.exe" asset, and neither of the source code assets. Edit 2: I am also including a screenshot of the "Deathcounter And Soundboard" folder's file list, in case it may be missing anything

Having the same issue as of yesterday

Yeah, it seems that the latest windows update completely broke this soundboard, real shame to be honest, its by far one of the best ones out there. Easy to use, sound overlapping, multiple audio outputs, clean UI, I really hope its fixed.

I also have this issue

ghost commented 5 years ago

Now, I might be wrong, but I think the developer for this used to have a contact email where you could reach him in a readme, im going to look for it tomorrow, but if anyone else could try and see if they could get this program to work or contact the Dev, it would be greatly appreciated

KinuSpazzy commented 5 years ago

Update, I tried again today and the program is working again for me

ToweringIowa22 commented 5 years ago

not for me

Zilronman commented 5 years ago

Recently tested this out again, and the program is still not working for me.

It throws out the exact same issue in Safe Mode, which means there are no other third party programs causing an issue with it - the program is having an issue with Windows itself. perhaps a setting or permission out of place? Running in Administrator doesn't fix it either.

ghost commented 5 years ago

I wasn't able to find the email but it is working for me again, I guess make sure you system is updated and uninstall, reinstall it several times , restart your computer, unplug it for a day? That's pretty much what I did, but I may have just gotten lucky

i was getting the same error message after DCSB was working fine for a couple months. windows update fixed it for me

AtomicBrick commented 4 years ago

the same as Zilronman

If you don't mind having to remake your entire soundboard, I've gone to ProgramData to just pretty much delete the DCSB file to get it working again. You can save the configurations for the "config" file within it just in case this happens again so you don't have to delete the entire thing. I've no other idea how to fix it ._.

Kalejin commented 4 years ago

This should be fixed in version 4.0.0.9.
