Installation Instructions

Step 1: Install Python 3.12

1. Visit Python 3.12 Download Page.
2. Download the appropriate installer:
   • Windows: Windows x64 installer
   • macOS: macOS 64-bit universal2 installer
3. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

Step 2: Clone the Repository

1. Navigate to BookSmart.ai GitHub Repository.
2. Click the “Code” drop-down button.
3. Select "Download ZIP".
4. Extract the folder to your desired location.

Step 3: Add OpenAI API Key

1. Obtain an API key from OpenAI.
2. Save the API key in a text file at project_root/assets/api_key.txt.

Step 4: Install Necessary Libraries and Run the Application

1. Open Terminal (macOS) or Command Prompt (Windows).
2. Change the directory to the program directory in the extracted ZIP file.
3. Run pip install -r requirements.txt to install required libraries.
4. After installation, execute python Main.py to start the application.
