Recently came across this project and thought I could make some small quality-of-life improvements to the codebase. I intentionally tried to break it up into a lot of smaller commits, such that you may choose any number (including zero :) of them to merge, some are indeed a matter of choice. Let me know what you think!

Heya. I was just looking into having someone review this, but I see you've closed this pull request. Are there more changes you intend on making, or is there another reason you backed out of the pull req?

I've had some issues and had to delete my own repository and close the pull request. I've opened a new one with all the previous changes, as well as some more I thought could be valuable.
