Is a PSP port of the translation to MonHun Nikki: Poka Poka Airu Mura G (ULJM-05881) possible?

I´m currently checking out the .iso of the PSP version. It uses almost the same file structure as the 3DS game but it's all bundled in fromsoftwares own formats (.bnd, etc.). So far I have no luck in unpacking the .bnd file as it seems to be quite different from a dark souls .bnd

Should be relatively easy, took a quick glance and extracted/rebuilt with some changes... I'm not familiar enough with FromSofts formats yet so it would be a while to get acquainted with this...

Do we know what is even different between the PSP G version and the 3DS DX version?

Amazing! I've managed to extract the .BND using the .BHD but the .fmg text files are in the third .FAT file. I have not found anything so far on how to unpack the .FAT file as there is no magic number. Besides that, it should be quite easy as the two versions are very similar. I think just few NPCs less.

I don't think the FAT file will be that important for now other than the luxury of file name -> file ID... as for the FMG files they are still in the BND and rebuild seems to work as long as you rebuild for LDMU.

Messed around yesterday with the UI and can resize/move UIs just fine too so making it fit text better shouldn't be too bad... only thing really that has to be done is fix the code side for the language change (change some system level calls for things like OSK, system message language and basically anything calling on impose.... which thankfully it uses the impose syscall)

As for differences, there was a bit added from 4G into DX however I think outside of that the game has remained similar like you said.

Do you happen to hang around discord? We could talk about getting the PSP version sorted if you are interested...

I saw asked on another Discord, where members are familiar with reversing Dragon's Dogma Online (another Capcom game), and the following was advised:

My suggestion would be to have a look at Capcom & FromSoftware games released on PlayStation Portable or released around roughly the same time (via Wikipedia or something) and check the debugging games site for debugging symbols. Chances are any other game released around that time or on the same platform uses the same framework and the logic would carry over. E.g. there are debugging symbols for armored core formula front for the PSP version and from a quick look has some references to BND files. But it also released 6 years earlier, so it might have changed since then. image
