How to propose a sprint

Use one of the links below to propose a sprint:

• New General Sprint: General sprints are on various topics and more science oriented
• New Infrastructure Sprint: To propose sprints that are based on infrastructure work
• New Service Sprint: To propose sprints on collaboration service
• New Paper Sprint: To propose sprint on paper writing

Clicking on these links will direct you to a Sprint template, make sure to fill-in your sprint information, in as much detail as you can. List all of the LSSTDESC GitHub repositories your proposed sprint may touch (this allows participants to request access ahead of the sprint). Then add relevant labels, such as working group (e.g. WL, LSS), expected day of the week, and accessibility level.

How to sign up for a sprint

When you have decided you want to join a particular sprint, click the assignees button on the top left of the issue page for the sprint and assign yourself. If you do not have write access to any of the GitHub repositories listed, obtain access ahead of the sprint to save time.

How to get write-access to LSSTDESC GitHub repositories

By default, all repositories under the LSSTDESC organization are read-only for all the members.

• If you think there's a possibility of you working on a repo you have not worked on before, ask for write access.
• If you are unsure whether you have write access to a repo, ask again anyway.
• If you are unsure who/where to ask for write access, ask on #desc-github-help on LSSTC Slack workspace.
