On the description page, the software says it works on all LG displays from 2018 onward. It appears this is not true #342

I have an LG Ultragear+ monitor that does not have built in network functionality, because it's a monitor. I am trying to control the dimming feature, but the software refuses to detect the display despite being connected via USB and DP. I kept trying to figure out the issue since the instructions says it works with all displays, but I'm guessing this is not the case for the monitor version of the LG displays. It would be helpful to update the description to include this caveat to avoid others wasting time.

Well, it clearly mentions 'TV' a couple of times. But WebOS is not mentioned and that is actually required, so that's a caveat indeed. I guess your monitor doesn't have WebOS? Some LG 'monitors' (like the LG OLED Flex) do use WebOS and these might work, but most not (the Ultragear variants).

It does look like the GL series (Ultragear) do not have WebOS, but some of the monitors like the SR and SQ series do. I guess monitor models starting with ##S are those with WebOS. Thanks for the response and confirmation.

Maybe a troubleshooting step could be added to mention how being able to connect to the TV (or one of those smart monitors with built-in Wi-Fi) via a network connection is required. Lots of folks are posting issues about the software not working and it turns out it's an issue of basic connectivity or they just see LG software controller and don't read the full description.

If folks can't see the "Hello World" message on their web browser via (https://#.#.#.#:3001) then it's not an issue with the ColorControl software.
