Homepage drop down does not navigate to category page

Using the homepage drop down takes you to https://unite4.org/charities-in-chicago?cause_type=environmental (which shows all of the causes) instead of https://unite4.org/charities-supporting-environmental, which only shows environmental causes.

I'm pretty sure this is what is supposed to happen. You want to go to a city and cause type.

It's supposed to be the intersection of the city and cause type: IE: You click "Environment" "Chicago" and you get just those causes with "Environment" as a focus in the city...not all causes within the city of Chicago, as is now.

Buuut it's not the same information at all. Here's the screen caps: If you set up the front page like this: and hit search, you get:

But if you hit the "Environment" category on that page you get

Eddie, this interaction really needs to go to the specific category and city that are being selected. Otherwise, the point of asking the user to select the category is just pointless.

We want to help connect people with causes that they are passionate about. If someone says they want to help education causes, we want to show them just education causes. From our user research, we heard many stories where people described how they decided to volunteer/donate to a cause, and a big part of it was because they had a personal connection to the type of cause. So we want to do what we can to help guide people towards taking action.

Also note that the header doesn't change between the different causes as currently implemented: it should be that when we search environmental and chicago, we get to this screen instead:
