Description

As part of Xen HTML 2.0, a number of new features have been added. To make development easier, all user-facing information is written in English.

As a result, these new features now need translating! Below is a table that lists all languages that have previously been translated, and need updating. New languages can also be added at this stage, but will take more effort to do so on your part!

If you're wanting to help out, thank you! I've outlined the steps for what you need to do below:

  1. Make sure nobody else is working on your language. This is to avoid two or more people working on the same language, and me then having to choose one person's work to be used. The table above marks which languages are in progress.
  2. Add a comment on this thread, or message me on Twitter, to say you've started working on a language. As soon as I see it, I'll then update the table here to reflect that you're working on it.
  3. Download the existing translations for your language (in the above table), or download the base translations if your language is not yet supported.
  4. Make sure your text editor supports UTF-8. Good editors include Notepad++ on Windows, and TextEdit on macOS.
  5. Go through each file, and update the text on the right side of the = sign from English. For example, with "EXAMPLE" = "Hello";, you would update "Hello" to be in your language. For previously supported languages, you will find a lot of the lines have already been translated.
  6. When you're done, zip the files back up, and upload to a service like Dropbox. Post the link here, and make sure to note which language you worked on in the message. Also, please make sure to write what name (or username) you'd like to be shown as credit for your work.

Context

Some strings need context for you to give the right translations. I've listed some of the more confusing strings here:

String Meaning
HEX A placeholder in the widget settings colour picker, indicating a CSS Hex colour can be typed in a box
HEXCODE Short for "CSS Hex colour code"
NO_DISABLED_ITEMS I made a mistake here, where the English version should be 'No disabled items'

I am more than happy to answer any questions about other confusing bits too! You can reach out via email (matt@incendo.ws) or Twitter (@_Matchstic)

Credits

I make sure to give credit to all translators. As mentioned in step 6, your name (or username) is shown to users when installing the tweak.
