Methapolis was created in the context of a project which was part of a computer science class at the Freie Universit�t Berlin in 2014. The related GitHub Team conists of the Accounts jacotar, ran83, mo2go, superaffengeiltyp, egal27, Hanagnagana, jneuendorf and giterer. Copyright (C) 2014 Metha Group Methapolis is GNU GPL version 3. MicropolisJ is Micropolis for the Java platform. Copyright (C) 2013 Jason Long (jason@long.name). Portions Copyright (C) 1989-2007 Electronic Arts Inc.

MicropolisJ is based on Micropolis, Unix version, which was developed by Don Hopkins (dhopkins@DonHopkins.com, http://www.DonHopkins.com) for DUX Software under license from Maxis, in or around 1990. This version was later modified for inclusion in the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program, and released as free and open source software under the GPL in 2008. Copyright (C) 1989-2007 Electronic Arts Inc.

The original Micropolis game was designed and implemented by Will Wright. Copyright (C) 2002 by Electronic Arts.

Methapolis extends MicropolisJ by a competitive spirit. The original gameplay is quite slow and was designed as an endless game. The main obstacles were the player's budget and, later, the randomly appearing disasters, which were able to screw a city's whole infrastructure.

A multiplayer mode, sabotage abilities and a deep research tree were implemented to distinguish between the skill levels of the competitors. Rush your rocket science upgrades to be an early threat or rely on a strong infrastructure with enhancend city buildings - your decisions pave the way to victory.
