@cehwitham I think there needs to be some discussion around whether we want to keep the public history or reset back to the head.

I lean more towards keeping said history as it upholds git integrity and helps reliable and accountable collaboration.

Given that this merge is a single commit it's also wise to do it this way rather than resetting the entire project back to an earlier state. This adds a further element of it being "safe" to work on without the possibility of potentially lost changes.
