Tento repozitář je určen pro uživatele Definic metadatových formátů Národní digitální knihovny (Standard NDK) a Pravidel pro popis dokumentů. Slouží pro vzájemnou komunikaci a diskusi nad Standardy a Pravidly, sdílení zkušeností a řešení při aplikaci Standardu a Pravidel jak mezi digitalizujícími institucemi a Národní knihovnou, tak mezi jednotlivými institucemi navzájem.

Definice metadatových formátů slouží jako předpis pro výsledek procesu digitalizace v digitalizačních projektech v ČR. Původně byl vytvořen pro projekt Národní digitální knihovny (NDK). V současné době je také předepsán v programu VISK 7 a je používán i v krajských digitalizačních projektech. Slouží jako jednotný formát pro paměťové instituce, které chtějí svá data dlouhodobě archivovat v uložišti Národní knihovny.
Standard NDK je vyvíjen Oddělením pro standardy Národní knihovny České republiky, které nese odpovědnost také za jeho údržbu a aktualizaci.
V současné době Národní knihovna spravuje a vyvíjí standardy pro následující typy dokumentů:

Oddělení pro standardy ve spolupráci s Oddělením metadat a Moravskou zemskou knihovnou také odpovídá také za správu Pravidel popisu dokumentů. Pravidla popisu dokumentů slouží jako příručkové dokumenty pro praktický popis jednotlivých typů digitalizátů.

This repository is intended for users of Metadata Standards of the National Digital Library of the Czech Republic (NDL) and for users of Guidelines for description of the documents. It serves for mutual communication and discussion about the Standards and the Guidelines, sharing experiences and solutions in application of Standards and Guidelines between the National Library of the Czech Republic and other digitizing institutions and between various institutions themselves.
Metadata Standards of the NDL serves as a regulation for the outcome of the digitization process in the digitization projects in the Czech Republic. Initially, it was created for the project of the NDL. Nowadays, it is also prescribed in the programme VISK 7 and is used in regional digitization projects. It serves as a uniform format for the memory institutions, which want their data to be preserved in a long term storage in the National Library. Standard of the NDL is developed by the Digital Preservation Standards Department of the National Library of the Czech Republic, which takes responsibility for the maintenance and updating.

Standards Department in cooperation with Metadata Creation Department of the National Library and the Moravian Library in Brno administers also the Guidelines for description of the documents. These guidelines serve as a manual for the description of various types of digitized documents.
