When we reset in the next iteration, a bunch of places are not going to be Thay at the start date of 1355 DR. This prominently includes Murbant, Thasselen, and Escalant (which will be conquered or reconquered in 1357 DR, the first two by the Priador and the last by Lapendrar).
I don't know what the current system is, so I apologize if this is a change that would not make much sense since it is already in effect, but to help with the conquest of these places feel like they actually happen and change something, these places should either not be present at game start and only be introduced once they're actually part of Thay proper (radical solution) or otherwise have non-Thayan guards ("Thasselen Guard", "Escalant City Guard") who might even harass or outright attack players wearing legion cloaks or Apprentice / Red Wizard robes (slightly less radical but more complicated solution).
I do think all of these places probably practiced slavery before they became part of Thay, perhaps with the exception of Murbant which has not historically been a part of Thay before 1357 DR and was in an alliance with a bunch of Aglarondan (and thus likely anti-slavery) city-states before the conquest, but we might even go as far as disabling the local slave markets and such until the conquest.
Now, it might seem a bit weird to advocate for removing / restricting content, in some sense. But I'm mostly advocating for it because I think it will help with the immersion and also make it feel more real once the Salamander War actually kicks off and has consequences such as the conquest of entirely new territory by Thay.
