Glacier Gallery

OGGM edu app: Photo gallery of various glacier types

The app shows and explains different types of glaciers and where they are located in the world. The design is a map where the glaciers are marked and presented with photos. The user can choose between different languages on our homepage.

Possible future improvements:

Additional glaciers in regions that are not represented yet would improve the app. Everyone who want to contribute is welcomed to add glacier photos and the glaciers' types into the gallery_data.py file. An important information to add is the RGI-Number, because information about the glaciers is gained from the Randolph Glacier Inventory within the app. You can send us the edited file per mail or with a pull-request. Thanks!

Help us with translations:

If you want to help us to add a new translation (or correct a typo in the existing ones), please check the international.py file and the gallery.ipnb file. The first one contains the translations and should be self-explanatory! With the second file the html document for the new or updated translation will be created. Therefore an according choise of the language and filename has to be made in the second code cell, then the script must be executed. You can send us the edited files per mail or with a pull-request. Thanks!
