The home page of OE has 17 SDG goals. Users can click on any one of them to discover problems, solutions, projects, and jobs for the specific category or can click on 'see all' to view all upvoted problems, solutions, projects, and jobs on earth level. Once the user enters the system, they will be able to change the location and categories through two dropdowns(we are calling it 'the fix').

Turns out that MediaWiki only provides basic search, the one you see on the left margin. It is not possible to search say an Issue within a region with it. Looks like the only supported solution is by using an extension CirruSearch which unfortunately depends on ElasticSearch. However this extension does allow subcategory search or what they call deep category search. So I think this is what I'd try next.
