Build an augmented reality app on Root Insurance

Hello!

We're excited to have you join this course, where you'll be building AR apps on Root insurance along with a group of other keen developers!

The aim of Make Days is to explore and learn new thing. You don't need to achieve specific goals. The structure caters for varying levels of experience and different Makers will learn different things by playing with the same tools.

Preparing for the Make Day

Makers that arrive well prepared get the most out of their experience. Before you attend your Make Day, there are a couple of activities to complete.

Getting started

• [ ] Join Make Slack, introduce yourself in #introductions, and check in with your team channel
• [ ] Learn about the how, where and why of Make Days
• [ ] Complete prep activities and check out the further reading and info

Prep activities

Time at a Make Day is valuable! Arrive well prepared to get the most out of it.

• Set up Root - 15 minutes
• Set up Unity - 1 hour (mostly idle time)
• AR dojo: Vuforia image targets and Unity physics - 1 hour
• Video tutorial: Building AR content in Vuforia
• Scripting in Unity: From Beginner to Advanced - Note that C# is the only available language now. JS and Boo are gone!

• Vuforia database: At the Make Day, you will have several images to use as ImageTargets in Vuforia and we created a Vuforia database with all those images pre loaded.

• A Postman collection with a variable for the Root API key.
• Root Insurance C# Scripts for creating Quotes, PolicyHolders, Policies and Applications.
