Please emulate windows 7 or 10 task bar on Windows 11 #766

Open DavidXanatos opened 3 years ago

DavidXanatos commented 3 years ago

Windows 11 apparently has castrated and crippled the task bar a lot, a huge lot, Can only be located on the bottom, you can not disable merging buttons, paratactically no context menu. This is useless!

I think the next major build of Open-Shell-Menu must fix this by providing a full blown taskbar replacement with all the win 7 and 10 functionality we grew to love and depend upon.

Cheers David X.

blackcrack commented 3 years ago

Hi David, this can you make with a picture and transparency ,

take a look :

SlanXP2 :

Smoked-glass :

the same can you make with WinXP Taskbar-Picture .. you can your Taskbar skinning and set transparency , if you look in the Configuration....

a screenshot from my Win7 :

and one of the Win11 :

and the left sided Taskbar , also it is also possible for have a 3 different Size of the taskbar via reg-string, so small, middle size and huge size Icons in the taskbar

if this issue no longer supports you and it's no longer a issue for you, can you close this issue please ..

DavidXanatos commented 3 years ago

@blackcrack i really dont care how the bar is skinned, what i mean is i want this

grafik

not that

grafik

I do not want multiple windows from the same application to be collapsed into one small button I need the windows 95-XP and 7 style of taskbar which was even available in 10

One that allows me to switch windows quickly without hovering or more than one click.

Plus I operate two rows of monitors and on the top row I want the taskbar to be pinned to teh top and not to the bottom of the screen.

I don't want some in between task bars in the middle of my monitor arrangement.

blackcrack commented 3 years ago

@DavidXanatos , well, Win11 is alfa(or beta or what ever..) there comes imho with 100%bloody shoot more possible, include to customise Win11 in this direction if you want.. and by the way, if you have a programmer who can maybe brings in a patch for OpenShell specially for Win11 Taskbar, could it in deed possible to add this patch for customizing the taskbar in different possible..

jackpoz commented 3 years ago

what i mean is i want this

grafik

I have not used myself that "10 different Explorer buttons" in the taskbar for years. Maybe it's just a matter to getting used to changes

WireliteSoft commented 3 years ago

change is what is ruining the world. and windows 11 is part of the decline in the world. its ugly and runs bad, it has nothing but GUI changes that are bad and disabled features that are actually needed. If they want to disable stuff try disabling features no one uses like all the bloatware CRAP they force to be installed like skype and other software that uses cpu that noone uses..... windows 10 was supposed to be the LAST OS and they lied, cheated and now lied again. windows 11 is a mistake and whoever designed it was 12 years old thinking it was a good design.

WireliteSoft commented 3 years ago

Guess i will be switching to linux. this windows 11 is a mess and ugly and worse than ever. I'd even take vista over this crap.

Aokromes commented 3 years ago

i also want split buttons and full width buttons and right click -> task scheduler on task bar.

WireliteSoft commented 3 years ago

Screenshot_10 this is the real taskbar Stop trying to make windows into a tablet ITS A PC NOT A MAC stop stealing their Menus...

WireliteSoft commented 3 years ago

@WireliteSoft any have right to have what he want, this have you not to say, if i view your account and your Experience .. you should take a step back and learn what a issue tracker in general is.. (a lil' hint, it's not a forum..) Any have the right to modding his PC like he want.. also in Mac direction .. and MS have also the right to modification the WinNT like they are want, include backoffice programs for the Americans Fasilitys because the Gov Act..

Screen 00001

so what.. i like the Mac Menu, why not integrate this .. they who able to programming it can do it.. this have you not to say, and you have it not to use if you want it not to use.. why not give the peoples possibles to use .. I stay behind @DavidXanatos and he have right if he want not the possible to tabbing his programs in the tasklist in the taskbar and he have enough knowledge base to know what's okey and not okey.. he have the rights to say he want the possibles to have a better work with his Workstation and want this options back... if you want not use some functions , it's yours, you don't need to use and you should then also in able to disable some options, but kick not out the food from an other mouth, could become bloody .. for you self.. if someone have your IP..

You need to go learn english. i am supporting DavidXanatos..... gtfo.... someone report this fool please.

Guess i will be switching to linux. this windows 11 is a mess and ugly and worse than ever. I'd even take vista over this crap.

Too bad that all the major desktop environments on Linux have basically that same issues of Windows 11...

I use Ubuntu daily for my work and the first thing that I do when I install it is to remove Unity and enabled Classic GNOME Flashback...

Aokromes commented 3 years ago

it looks some people is using windows server 2022 explorer.exe to have proper taskbar, but it breaks systray.

DavidXanatos commented 3 years ago

Yea why is the current trend with regard to UI so f...ing unusable junk that only works well if you use 3 apps and no more. PC's are not tablets thay are for multitasking and advanced workflows

yea installed debian yesterday. I think it is funny how microsoft always says they make changes we want but if you put up a poll 90% are going to say no that is a bad idea, instead they listen to people that don't even use windows i bet. everytime a new windows comes out there is more complaints than ppl liking it. yet they say they use our input to make the changes? lol that is bull and they know it. i'm sick of idiots changing my workflow because they are greedy.

blackcrack commented 3 years ago

@DavidXanatos because Win11 is current in "Beta" ? and not really well for working at anyday.. you have luck if you have a intel mashin and you be in able for install Win11 (in VBox works also) but, hold in mind, it's a developer rel, nothing else... wait a couple month and Win11 want become more stable.. (if you meant win11 UI) apropo, did you know that :

@Aokromes i have there at forums.mydigitallife.net no account and i make not a account.. what do you meant with your post ?

Gaurav-Original-ClassicShellTester commented 3 years ago

First read this topic if you wish to use Open Shell with the classic Taskbar: http://www.classicshell.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8580 It applies to Open Shell also, in fact I recommend Open Shell only over Classic Shell.

If you insist on using the new taskbar, for now, until Open Shell gets updated, you can use a square Start button to make the button work reliably such as the Windows 2000 logo Start button: http://www.classicshell.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4400

You can also instead do a tweak using Winaero Tweaker for those not comfy with Registry editing: https://winaero.com/winaero-tweaker-1-20-1-get-back-windows-10-start-menu-and-taskbar-in-windows-11/ or a Registry tweak to bring back old Taskbar for now.

Of course this is no real or permanent solution as it may be removed by Microsoft any time. And some tray icons are broken even with the "fix" but you can use 3rd party apps as shell tray icon replacements.

Finally there's ExplorerPatcher which really is the best way to bring back classic Taskbar and make everything else work correctly: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher That brings back the classic Taskbar without the side effects of UndockingDisabled.

tried to install a 3rd party clock to fix the hidden clock, and i get "can't build into the taskbar. the system clock is hidden" i wonder if there is some registry for this. that with 1st clock, other 3rd party clock doesnt even gives error.

blackcrack commented 3 years ago

T-Clock had also troubles like i have noticed, but White-Tiger support T-Clock no more... i guess, it's a new/other API who programmed now with the new TaskBar and new systray test it with the old classic taskbar, maybe works then.. or did you already..

The Starticon of the Win10 Startmenu is existand, but the part of the Classic10 Startmenu is fully removed also the Clock of the Taskbar is also removed

but DX Tweaks works.. maybe could you make it with OpenShell wett and the clock with T-Clock or Ytclock or how it names..

you have 3 Possibilitys

1st Go to MS Support and protest commentless removed, german Report ,

2nd create in OpenShell an own explorer10 with startmenu and systray with clock for Win11

Hey guys you can just create a new user account after enabling the Classic Taskbar in HKLM. That enables the clock and most of the icons they broke/disabled in Windows 11 except for the Network icon. image

You can get Date/Time, Action Center, old Volume icon, old Power icon (broken but can be fixed via Reg value), and Network icon (which remains broken but the Control Center (Cogwheel icon) is the replacement for it anyway.

Of course: Explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}\SystemIcons works for existing account.

@Aokromes now need we are only the regtweaks of this config and add it to the classic tweaks ... but i guess, the win10 menu want be killed.. or is this also a regtweak ? ("disablewin10menu" or something dword"00000001" or so) i check this later, but if you want check this and search the regtweak, do it.. i be at moment a bit down... weather or some what..

and remove the huge quote on your last post.., you can me call also with a "@" before my name..

you can also use jpg's for loading up in github your pictures, than can you you use the url of the jpg's with an htm string in this posts, like i have done in my posts .. look it on you're quote .. because jpg's can you upload ever in github.. png's not.. and later upt the jpg-url's in the htm string

1.st make a screenshoot, save it as jpg

  1. put the streenshoot in the posting and it want upload it
  2. take the [blabla](https:\blablabla\url\screenshoot.jpg) and put it to
    <img alt="alternatetitle" width="200" src=" the url of the uploaded jpg">

this works only with jpg's !! but you can set the size also from 200 to 150 or smaller as picture preview, with the posting preview can you test it, therewith do you not ever must kick in so huge picture and be in able to make it more smaller

Any chance of adding taskbar resizing, like multiple rows?

Gaurav-Original-ClassicShellTester commented 3 years ago

Btw I came across this interesting project: ExplorerPatcher: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher An in-memory patch.

How it works: https://valinet.ro/2021/08/09/Restore-Windows-11-to-working-Windows-10-UI.html

I tested it with 22000.1. Works brilliantly. Only reverts to the Classic Taskbar without the other side effects of UndockingDisabled=1.

drivel2787 commented 3 years ago

I've been running Windows 11 since the drop on the insider program. This OS is shit compared to Windows 10. Just ungrouping of the taskbar being taken away alone when NO ONE wants that is the dumbest shit MS could have done!

Brad-git-man commented 3 years ago

@drivel2787 Every MS OS since 8 has been a shit bastardization of Windows former glorious self. I only have 10 LTSC on one machine & it is bad enough. I am still getting updates on my 7 machines using "certain methods".

Gaurav-Original-ClassicShellTester commented 3 years ago

To say it is shit is an understatement. Every Windows since Vista has been dumbed down and saw a huge removal of features. Up to 7 at least they were making massive additions as well besides removing some good features for no reason. Let's not forget why Classic Shell was created in the first place - :) to undo the damage Windows 7 did by removing features from the Start menu and Explorer. And if it wasn't for 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, I would still somehow be on XP.

But this Windows 11 is outrageous. It has next to no meaningful or must-have improvements and is already trashing Taskbar, Start menu (again) and Explorer.

blackcrack commented 3 years ago

@Gaurav-Original-ClassicShellTester the way is, Win11 is the first Stage to bring all MS-Users in series and bring the most on "OneDrive", MS-Online-Account and make mostly "Clean", then the next step is, because all already online and have a unice / uniform User interface/Shell it's only a small step to have the Windows in the Browser or a Hardware Ordering system, who goes direct online and connect the Desktop at the Microsoft Servers, where be no software anymore free to become, nope, you have all to buy and to have a proof or a certificate or you can go to jail ... and at the other hand, have the Facility's the possibility's to have a hands on the MS-Servers.. look on the American IT Laws ! ... "This is the way" where want go MS.. take the most Peoples in they Hands and hold out not payed peoples.. to have maximal money incoming and moneymaking..

It's time that reactos is made ready for use .. (as Info, Reactos belongs not the germans Club, it belongs the whole world, mostly the Reactos Community, The German Club is only a Supporter of it! ) What's speaks against if there a Guerrilla-Tactic in different Gitlab's .. going off from Github and use other Lab's with different stacks and put it together if all works so far to have instantly a working Reactos.org ... therewith can MS it no more controlling on Github..

it's time to have a free, free under GPL standing WinNT x86 and one with x86_64 extension to have the possibility's to use x86 Laptops and hardware still ! And with the x86_64 code enhancement WinNT64Bit supporting too.. and not visa versa .. and not let die the x86 silently ..

@drivel2787 Every MS OS since 8 has been a shit bastardization of Windows former glorious self. I only have 10 LTSC on one machine & it is bad enough. I am still getting updates on my 7 machines using "certain methods".

i have see, i have make a mistake by not collecting of WinXP Updates, because i have now the 90% collecting of the Win7 updates and have make for me a "Ultraupdatepack" for my Win7 via cmd file, this can you found at blackysgate.de/files under batchfiles .. ;)

But this Windows 11 is outrageous. It has next to no meaningful or must-have improvements and is already trashing Taskbar, Start menu (again) and Explorer.

@blackcrack Windows 11 is the best reason yet to keep using Windows 7 till at least 2050, it's lack of future updates be dammed (my 7's will be "supported" till the end of 2022). Also I have never used "10 so called Pro" , I've only used 10 LTSC and there is no damn way I would have went thru the past 5 yrs of hell that "10 so called Pro" users suffered. The kind of hell that M$ should have been sued for.

DavidXanatos commented 3 years ago

@blackcrack Yea! that is why Win 11 makes TPM and Secure Boot mandatory, to take away users control over their system, like its on most phones.

DavidXanatos commented 3 years ago

When I enable

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell\Update\Packages]
"UndockingDisabled"=dword:00000001

in the new windows 11 builds the explorer crashes when trying to open a context menu in a file window.

I'm worried that all these workarounds wont be viable for long.

We should really look into crating a full taskbar replacement, like Open Shell Menu entirely replaces the start menu.

blackcrack commented 3 years ago

or an other Project could work together with OpenShell, Retrobar :

or we have anyone who make really a Tastbar7.dll from fresh under gpl2 (also for Reactos to use later).. for OpenShell directly.

@blackcrack And also make the system tray display on all taskbars. I really don't know why that option isn't already in Open-Shell. To undo Micro$oft's stupidity & laziness of only showing it on the main monitor
