1 year ago I've got everything migrated https://angelcityjazz.com/events/ but for some reason not all the css converted. Right now there are some issues with formatting (colors, spacing, etc) on the event pages and related sections.
It all works on stage (where I migrated from) so I just need to cross reference and make fixes after some sleep.
Will try to have everything cleaned up by noon/early afternoon tomorrow.

1 year ago I was able to change the schedule background but the text color issue will probably require some css fixes. I also noted that the related event highlight have blue text title where it should be black as the background is white

1 year ago one more thing: some of the links appear in blue throughout the event pages. Can you convert all of them to underlined white?

I 'think' it might have something to do with Cloudflare or something else that is causing the new css file not to be read. I'll spend a little bit of time trying to resolve the file - if I can't do, I can make temporary fixes in the customizer.

No I appreciate it - keep the feedback coming!
Looks like I just managed to get the live site to read the CSS - not exactly sure what I did, but all those issues are now resolved (you may not see them right away if you don't clear your browser cache)
There still are some formatting issues I'll work through a bit later - will be easier to do know that the css updates are working again!
Our press release is going out today.

I thought I was losing my mind (even more than usual) when the Ticket link suddenly appeared. It seemed a bit random in the main navigation as it might draw the visitors attention away from the detailed event pages on the site.

1 year ago Ok - I feel pretty good about things right now - tried to tighten up event details (date/venue/button/etc) a bit. I wanted to see what the events would look like without the price (since that's displayed on the event section and when people hit the ticket button). So I cloned the current live site and hid the price via css on https://acjstg.wpengine.com
Also - realizing you had a student price - why not enter a rage (like $10 - 20) - I did that for the first couple events, just to show what that would look like on https://acjstg.wpengine.com/events/

1 year ago It depends on what browser you are using. Its usually in the preferences. Refreshing a couple times also worked when viewing on my iPhone.

1 year ago So on your phone/computer you don’t see the blue ticket button and venue name? After multiple refreshes that text is still blue on my end. The refresh did fix the calendar grid text color to white.

1 year ago It’s really annoying, but I’m not sure there’s anything else I can do on my end to make it load faster. just keep in mind that this won’t affect anyone else unless they were using the site before we push these changes.

1 year ago I was able to fix it by updating the event pro plug in. Can we set it up so that it doesn't go down randomly? I don't know how long it's been down but it could have been more than 18 hours (last time I loaded the site).

1 year ago I’m just starting my day here so I didn’t see your comments. Apparently there was known issue with the events plug-in Sometime yesterday (which they fixed since) but it shouldn’t have affected us since we don’t have auto updates enabled.
I was checking often often during the day and into the evening and saw no related problems. So it was down for a few hours at most during the night (where most visitors are).
still it shouldn’t happen. I’ll double check the settings when I get home from walking and start my day. No update here with any findings.

1 year ago Hi Gus, I believe that automatic updates are not enabled for event pro. If I remember correctly you opted out of the automatic updates as they can cause unexpected problems. It seems that not updating automatically can also cause problems so we really need to evaluate which way is better. A failure of the event pro calendar plug in is just so devastating as all of the information about all of our events disappears at once.

1 year ago Yes - I realized early on that we should 'disable' automatic updates on the live site since some plugins have caused site issues in the past. I wasn't concerned when I saw this tweet yesterday (https://twitter.com/sereedmedia/status/1669095855092281344) since I hadn't updated (and auto updates were disabled)...
...THEN I just looked at the live site and realized that auto-updates were enabled on a few random plugins (I'm assuming you haven't enabled any) - including The Events Calendar (which was the documented cause in that Tweet).
My bad for not thoroughly checking - but this is a prime example of why we 'shouldn't' have auto updates enabled on the live site.
I update all the plugins (at least) once a week on https://acjdev.wpengine.com/wp-admin - and then push the updates to the live environment after testing.
Totally get the huge problem this can cause - again we're lucky that it happened late at night when traffic was low.
Now that auto updates are disabled (for real this time!) - this shouldn't happen again.
So I cloned the live environment to https://acjstg.wpengine.com/ where we can use as the stage. I also hooked up the 'Distributor' plugin which 'should' enable us to push new content live w/o needing to overwrite the database.
@angelcityjazz I forget what we did last year (or the year before) - one way to do it would be to start with the first event from last year (https://acjstg.wpengine.com/event/storytellers/) and hit Duplicate Post (in the top right). If you're still happy with the format, just update the blocks. Just keep in mind the 'missing' blocks aren't actually missing - you should be able to see the changes by hitting Preview or just saving.
