Phenothiazine-like natural product thiaplakortone A and it's derivatives #5

@rohandavis considering the whole massive natural product library would be prohibitively expensive to ship to the Netherlands

Would it be possible to ship a few of the molecules tested in this paper to Wendy? - 10.1039/C4OB01849D

yes, certainly, I can do that.

will wait for Wendy to get back from Sudan before shipping anything.

have some queries on how she wishes to received the dry stocks.

best, Rohan

@rohandavis thanks for the information - it's pretty wild to me how a sea sponge can make a compound that almost is the halfway point between chlorpromazine and melatonin

Perhaps a phenothiazine like this one would be worth testing in malaria? https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/11033866

@rohandavis @wwjvdsande any updates? I know it's been a few months

@MFernflower I have some toluidine blue now as another example of the methylene blue series.

bebi78 commented 1 year ago

@MFernflower The following phenothiazine compounds of the covid response box were active against M. mycetomatis and F. senegalensis. Seems that the box chlorpromazine was a little more active than the one (hydrochloride salt) from my lab.

so Rohan sent some stuff over to wendy including the phenothiazine-like natural product thiaplakortone A

Hi @MFernflower before closing this I wonder if you could add a few lines to the wiki that captures this Issue and links back to it? Trying to avoid Issue Orphans. I've created an outline wiki structure in the sidebar, so maybe in the "origins" or "Story So Far" pages?

MFernflower commented 1 year ago

i will see if i can write something short

however phenothiazines are an old class of drugs from the 1940's and it was just luck that thiaplakortone A kinda looks likes chlorpromazine
