Thanks for a great session last Friday, October 1st. Thanks to Emily Markowitz from AFSC for guest teaching about Data to Products and sharing more examples during the Q&A.    • Consider adopting (or creating) a Code of Conduct for your research group, posting publicly (on your website, on GitHub, etc.) We provide slides to get you started below.
3. Summarize your Seaside Chat in a GitHub Issue!

A few lines from shared notes in the Agenda doc:

• Very productive seaside chat where we agreed upon priority goals...most of which could be accomplished with thoughtful strategies for developing a GitHub organization. It felt great to come up with a solid plan for standardizing and automating data processing and analysis for regular data products, and discussing plans for better collaboration and reproducibility of research products. Also contemplating using GitHub issues to handle data requests.+1+1
• The idea of using GitHub was more scary than just doing it
• Been a little distracted with year-end obligations. Feeling disconnected from my Openscapes goals… +1
• Idea: have time at the end of a meeting so everyone can review notes to make sure notes reflect what everyone +1 +1
• Plug for Radical Candor a book talked about in the first openscapes meeting.
• Bring improvements in sharing practices that we’ve made in virtual space back to the workplace once we’re reintegrated...improve on and foster them +100
• Emily Markowitz, on RMarkdown workflows: “We will never guess again” +1, saves so much time and emailing to track things down
