Caret disappears after a while working #765

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. This isn't very clear, but it involves doing a fair bit of editing, invoking
launchers, switching between panes and also between file tabs.

After a while of activity, the caret disappears. Editing text is still
possible, it's just hard to tell where you are.

Going into Preferences and changing the caret size makes it reappear.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.7.12 on Arch Linux x86_64

What method of install was your version installed with (Binary/Source)?
source

If from source: What version of python and wxPython are you using?
2.7.3 and 2.8.12.1 respectively.

Hi,

If you are able to reproduce this again, if you then click away from Editra
(like to the Desktop) then click back in Editra does the caret come back?

Do you have your system setup to change the active window based on which window
the mouse is hovered over or does it require you to directly click on a window
for it to get the focus?

* Oh, there's no trouble reproducing it. It happens at least once in any
editing session of any length.

* I have no desktop (running a tiling WM with a 'maximize active window'
layout). Changing focus *does* cause the caret to reappear. IIRC it only has
that effect if I change focus via the tablet rather than keyboard.

* I'm using 'sloppy' mouse focus, so no need to actually click on a window to
focus it. FWIW there is no other window visible to receive the focus anyway.

Hi! The carret disappears for me too a few times daily on Ubuntu 12.04 set up
to focus on click.
For example if I run a script with the Launcher, the shelf receives the focus
and if I focus the editor pane with the panel switcher or with a left click,
the carret doesn't show up until I right click on the editor pane.
