Ok, interesting. This made me look at the differences between v2 and v3 and then I understood that, as we are making a library we should use a more permissive licence so that people would be able to use it in more programs than just GPLv* ones.
This is why I think maybe we should use LGPL. Now we have to choose the version.
I didn't check exactly the differences between v2 and v3 but Linus says v3 is fine. It is just not what he wants compared to v2.
