Marketing for Plugins release

I've briefly discussed doing a bigger release for Plugins with @jamesefhawkins, @timgl and @kpthatsme.

Releasing Plugins is a big event for us, even if it's still early days for community created plugins, its a symbolic moment as it solidifies PostHog as a platform and I’d also like to drum up more community contributions.

It sounds like we have some interesting engineering stories we could share. There's also content we can create around the first community plugins, video tutorials etc. Here's a list of content we could create:

• Plugins feature page
  • I wrote Plugins product marketing during my SuperDay which I'll extend
• Release blog post
  • maybe a chance to add unique design for release posts
• Engineering stories:
  • The challenged creating plugins, this could be a series.
• Training:
  • We have good plugin docs, let's turn the tutorial into a video.
• Community plugin leaderboard. This is an idea I worked on during my SuperDay, we can launch it as simple landing page with and manually awards achievements as the community builds plugins

I'd love to brainstorm some more ideas and start the discussion of a launch date. Look forward to hearing from you all!

What's the timeline for launching this? We'll want to make sure we leave enough time to design the Plugins marketing page (content), and it may make sense to build this page before the rest of the Features pages, since they may take a little while to get it right.

@corywatilo it's linked to plugins coming out of beta, which Michael says has no specific dates at this stage.

I agree, the plugins feature page is the highest priority. Yakko has already implemented a community leaderboard and I will take care of the rest.

As discussed with James and Kunal, a Product Hunt launch will most likely be more successful when PostHog is targeting a wider audience than developers - perhaps a 2.0 like launch.

The "getting out of beta" list changes every time we work on it. Its scope can also be scaled up or down as needed.

The biggest issues have to do with retries and batching. So that if you use e.g. the snowflake export plugin, and snowflake is down, you wouldn't lose data and the export will be tried again later. However it's also possible to defer that...
