Improve the screenshots on the homepage #2386

Casually browsing through the posthog.com landing page, which is the first page 63% of people see when they learn about PostHog, I noticed the screenshots describing the app in the middle of the page are really low quality:

  1. Funnel analysis: looks fuzzy (scaled in)
  2. Product usage trends: a mockup, not a screenshot... but ignoring that, the baseline & chrome colors are swapped on the chart and on the legend.
  3. "What is this?" is the first reaction I have when I see this. Why not a full screen screenshot that makes it clear what you're looking at? We have a wonderful new player that looks so much better now as well. Finally, let's actually show a session being played back through a gif.
  4. This thing needs to be replaced with a gif where you override feature flags in the toolbar, and the page updates dynamically.

Related, the refreshed app design is going to be rolled out next week if all goes according to plan. It shouldn't change much here if the screenshots/screencasts still zoom in on a relevant product feature, excluding the menus around.

There are some more recent screenshots in the work at https://www.figma.com/file/hKxlrZpxHF6qIVY1D5VNV6/?node-id=0%3A1. I will try to make some time to drop in more current versions so we can use them on the marketing site.

Was going to post about the fuzzy funnel analysis screenshot but it seems @mariusandra beat me to it!

I think Mixpanel do quite a nice job with this - their main screenshot at a glance is super clear and immediately gives me confidence I'm going to see some interesting data presented in a nice way.

This is also a great illustration of why we should make our dashboards feature look great and simple to use.
