Updates to script 1 on the basis of errors noticed in script 2. #4

Creates script 2 and some minor updates to script 1 on the basis of errors that became apparent in script 2.

A number of commits lost along the way due to desktop issues.

This looks fantastic @gavinc01, superb work. I'll try to get a proper review done in the next few days, but if you're at a loose end before then and want to start on the next script then feel free to make another branch and crack on with it.

Updated script 2 with ungrouping and function tidying. I have not included the return() function as this is not consistent with the advice in the tidyverse style guide
