I have uploaded the schematized XML

JackieAlfarah commented 5 years ago

An error I see firing is the value of the attribute for "key =" is a question mark when it should be equal to a place such as academy or germany.

Hi @JackieAlfarah and @wravindran! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Well done completing most of the TEI XML Exercise! :tada:
I know there were some unexpected issues when @wravindran attempted to associate the schema and upload it, but that you both worked on this task together in class in order to complete it. Well done communicating in person and getting through that part of the assignment. Nevertheless, each of you were to "select two different elements used in the XML (in the .xml file) in order to reflect in 2-4 sentences how the project has further constrained the original TEI element." I don't know if you two made an agreement about @wravindran doing all 4 elements since there is only a record of @JackieAlfarah completing the other tasks but since there is no public communication between the two of you here on your issue regarding this matter we have to mark that part of the exercise incomplete.

For the next assignment, your team will need to reference the latest file added to the Danish Letter 19211922 Archival Materials Folder ๐Ÿ“‚ -- a screenshot of the TEI header information provided by the project manager, Emily Datskou. As a team, you will work together to create a <teiHeader> element for German Letter 1 using the information provided by Emily, the existing XML encoding, photograph(s) of the letter (a.k.a the facsimile images), and the translation/transcription documents.
(โฌ†๏ธ all available in your text's folder linked above โฌ†๏ธ)

Be sure to reference the TEI Header Exercise in order to let each other, @ProfPLC, and I know what tasks you each are comfortable with completing by Tuesday (2/26) ๐Ÿ“†. Please remember the main goals in all of our assignments are team communication ๐Ÿ’ฌ and collaboration ๐Ÿ‘.

_Note: the TEI header template is available in Thursday's lesson on Capturing Metadata and as a download-able XML file containing the template <teiHeader>._ Happy coding! ๐Ÿ’ป ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Sorry to keep bothering you, but you can click the TEI that I just uploaded so we can determine what metadata fit in the header. From there, we can re-upload the final product.

@wravindran one attribute that I noticed was not used in the letters was xenoData (container element). I believe it was not used because these letters were not digital so there was no xenoData at hand. The metadata did not exist digitally.

@JackieAlfarah Thanks for the link i couldnt find it at first. .

RJP43 commented 5 years ago

@JackieAlfarah could you provide a link the xenoData element in the TEI Guideline or at least the definition given for the kind of data captured in that element?

sure! its https://www.tei-c.org/release/doc/tei-p5-doc/en/html/HD.html. This element is used as a "container element" where metadata in Non-TEI formats are placed.

@JackieAlfarah an attribute I noticed was the revisionDesc not used because these are the first electronic texts, and because it is the first, there is no reference to see if there were any changes made.

JackieAlfarah commented 5 years ago

I noticed in the letter dated 29/12, there are two underlined words. I wonder what they mean and what their significance is.

RJP43 commented 5 years ago

@JackieAlfarah @wravindran there is still quite a bit to do on this assignment before class in order to receive full credit. First, your header file doesn't contain many of the parts in our template. Please revise and re-upload your header file so it includes a correctly filled out header. Also you each need to respond to each other's statements. Please note in both your statements you express the unused tei header XML are attributes... are they? Are you sure they are not elements? Please revise your comments accordingly.

Yea, I noticed that too. It is also an optional attribute, but it should still be used.

I just fixed some of the problems on our header file. I also commented on the comment of @wravindran
