Next step: craft the language (JP)
Can we include in terms of service? Or at some similar place. I don't think this information is something users must see very often :)
I personally agree that users don't need to constantly see it. The goal here is to be very upfront and clear with users from their decision to open an account that the platform will eventually evolve and may require payment to use. We don't want users to feel misled by being able to use the platform for free for now. We can show the message as part of the invitation-initiated account creation flow, and leave a reminder under Profile after that. What do you think?
Moving to post-launch since no one will be creating new accounts yet. This disclosure message should be seen by new users (with accounts.)
As the platform, we want to be upfront and transparent with users that the service might become paying.
I suggest we disclose that information when users create an account and leave the info under the Profile or as a banner (the latter feels like an overkill though.)
The message would mention that the service will remain nonprofit, we only need to cover our operating costs, and that there likely will be tiered services with free or low-cost options to ensure that everyone who needs the data can access it.
@mihow @annavik What do you think about the how, when, and where?
I'll craft some language accordingly.
